Mar en Calma: A Piece That Doesn’t Interrupt

by Issa Molina

A piece in which there is no interruption: Mar en Calma

It wasn’t one of those dramatic, catastrophic days.
There was no breakup, no devastating phone call, not even a serious argument.
But the weight was there. Subtle. Persistent. Quiet.
A kind of background noise that didn’t come from outside, but from within.

I had a to-do list, unread notifications, and loose ends everywhere. In theory, I had everything I needed to be productive.
But I had no space.
So instead of forcing myself to keep going, I turned off my phone, shut down the laptop, and sat with my guitar.

Not with a clear idea or goal. Just the need to breathe, nothing more.
That’s when “Mar en Calma” was born.

Mar en Calma- Music That Doesn’t Push

It’s not an ambitious piece. It doesn’t try to prove anything.
Quite the opposite—it’s a piece that doesn’t want to stand out.
It’s a place.
A small sonic space where everything quiets down a bit.

Anxiety. Rush. Judgment. Expectation.
We live surrounded by stimuli fighting for our attention. Everything has to be urgent, brilliant, and perfect. And without noticing, we start demanding the same from art.

But sometimes, what we need most isn’t transformation.

It’s rest.

“Mar en Calma” is precisely that—a pause.
It doesn’t interrupt, demand, or push..
It’s just there, like the sea at dawn, before the waves.

An Invitation to Feel, Not to Analyze

I can’t technically explain why I wrote each note.
I did it because I needed it. And now I’m sharing it in case you do too. Maybe your week’s been heavy. Or you’ve lost track of what day it is.
Maybe nothing’s really “wrong,” and yet you still feel that kind of tiredness sleep can’t fix.

For all those moments—this music is for you.

Listen without expecting anything—no pressure to love it.

Maybe when it ends, nothing around you will have changed.
But you-you might feel a little lighter.
